English classes free for Ukrainian Nationals on the Homes for Ukraine Programme. 

NorthBirmingham4Ukraine (NB4U) has provided English classes on Monday mornings since May of 2022 with an aim to teach and improve the English of Ukrainian arrivals in North Birmingham. Our group has grown from one small group to four groups of differing ability as our students arrive and progress. We cater for students from Pre-Entry to Entry 3. We draw on the experience of 5 qualified teachers, 3 of whom are qualified ESOL teachers. 

We aim to provide a secure learning environment with a focus on making learning fun and appropriate to everyday life in the UK. As yet, we do not provide recognised qualifications; instead, we feed students into college courses as they become available. We have a Ukrainian guest who is a qualified English teacher to support our beginner’s group. Additionally, we have a British national on our team who speaks Russian and has visited Ukraine many times since the 1980s; he is, therefor, uniquely placed to help our learners.

• Our sessions are attended by the Refugee and Migrant Centre and Birmingham City Council’s Housing team should you wish to consult them
• Our NB4U Consultants Roger, Melanie, Malcolm and Noran are also available to consult during our sessions.
