Born and raised in Sutton Coldfield I studied zoology at Aberdeen University and a science teaching course (PGCE) through Nottingham University. I’m also a qualified ESOL teacher (Trinity College, Cambridge)
I have worked as a Language Instructor for the Japanese International Cooperation Association where I prepared professionals for two-year assignments in developing countries. In this role, I designed and delivered tailored English language courses to enable volunteers to live independently and transfer their skills and knowledge in workplaces. Following this, I returned to Sutton Coldfield where I worked as a science teacher in local schools.
Following the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, I felt I wanted to help, even in some small way, and began by assisting with the running of the ESOL lessons in North Birmingham. I then joined the steering committee set-up to establish the North Birmingham4Ukraine charity. Through this I have been able to help organise assistance for Ukrainians who have fled the war and found themselves in Sutton Coldfield and adjoining areas.
Now I work as a Consultant, ESOL Teacher, Moving On Consultant.
