Christmas Party Celebrating

The spirit of Christmas shone brightly at the NB4U Christmas Party, held in the warm and welcoming Holy Trinity RC Hall. The event was a heartwarming celebration of joy, community, and togetherness, shared with our Ukrainian friends, generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers.

The atmosphere was alive with carefree laughter and cheerful smiles. Guests were treated to a delicious buffet, lovingly prepared by #BitsAndBites, and generously funded by #SuttonColdfieldCharitableTrust. The culinary spread delighted every palate and added to the festive cheer.

The amazing Ryan Smith Music lifted spirits to new heights with fantastic live performances. The music was a true highlight of the evening, bringing energy and joy to every corner of the room.

A special thank you goes to the People’s Corner Project #HomeFromHospital, whose thoughtful goody bags brought smiles to all our guests. These tokens of care and kindness were truly appreciated by everyone.

Of course, no Christmas party would be complete without the magic of Santa Claus. Thanks to #TheRotaryWyldeGreen, Father Christmas and his cheerful elf made a grand entrance, spreading joy and handing out gifts to the children, making the night unforgettable for our youngest attendees.

One attendee perfectly summed up the evening:
“Thanks for organising this great party. The food is delicious, the music is lovely. We enjoyed the party a lot. Thanks for all your support; I can’t express how much it means to us. You’re all stars!”

As we reflect on this heartwarming celebration, we extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event so special. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with happiness and hope. 🎄🎅🇺🇦

Thank you for being part of our NB4U family.

Visit to Birmingham Council House

On Monday, in place of our usual ESOL lessons, we visited Birmingham Council House in Victoria Square.

The visit was arranged by Noran through June and Simon of the Public Relations Dept of Birmingham Council. Thankyou to all three and to Julie, our guide on the day. Our guests found the tour fascinating and were particularly interested in the details of the Mayor’s job.

It gave our guests an insight into our City and how it’s managed while admiring the architecture.

Pottery Painting and Hot Dog Party

On 16th November, over 60 guests and their loved ones gathered for a cosy and engaging event. Attendees spent a delightful afternoon painting pottery and enjoying warm hot dogs.

Special thanks go to Beverley for organising the activities and for her incredible effort in packing all the food and pottery supplies into her small car to bring them to the event.

Welcome Autumn Event

On 21 October NB4U held a successful social event at Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church. We were joined by Anton and Roman who shared the work they were doing taking a range of items and vehicles to soldiers fighting in Ukraine. We collected £209 to donate to the cause and on 16 November we will be collecting in items to send to Ukraine. Thank you to Lucy, Colin and Peter who worked hard in the kitchen, Val and Mel who provided a craft activity for children , Roger and Malcolm who welcomed participants , Alex and Olena who helped throughout the event and Iryna who was instrumental in getting Anton and Roman involved. We were also joined by Carolyn and Gerry from the Rotary who have been great supporters of NB4U. Finally we must not forget Bev who organised the whole event. It was great to see some new faces as well as our regular friends. Everyone enjoyed getting together, meeting up, sharing news and eating good food ! Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon

Ukranian Independence Day

On July 17th we celebrated Ukrainian Independence Day with 100 participants at Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church Hall . It was a truly amazing experience and we were joined by Councillor Clifton Welch , Councillor David Barry and Frances Thomas from Birmingham City Council. We had fabulous food from Ukrainian Sunflower which quickly disappeared . We had entertaiment from Iryna’s children’s dance group , the elders from ESOL entertained us with singing and poetry , we really have some very talented individuals in our group. We are also overwhelmed by the kindness of other people who supported our group today. The People’s Corner Project from #homefromhospital came along and provided food parcels and toiletry packs for participants plus back to school resources for children. We are very grateful to Gemma and her team for their support. Another big bonus was that the World Development Group from #stnicholaschurch donated cutlery, glasses, tablecloths, jugs and serving dishes that made today and will make future events much easier. Many thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this event possible we had lots of fun and marked a very important day for our Ukrainian community #HomesforUkraine #BirminghamCityCouncil
