The NB4U Employability Programme 2026:-

What is the project aiming to do?

Our Employability project is going to run from April to December 2026.

This project will help you to understand that to successfully manage change requires a plan.

  • We will use proactive methods to support Ukrainian individuals into some kind of employment if they currently are not working and for others to improve their prospects of better employment that is more suited to their ambitions, qualifications and capabilities. (Some may simply wish to become volunteers to give back to a society that has given them refuge and we will help with this also).
  • We recognise that some may need to be supported to analyse their qualifications, qualities and skills to adapt to a different occupation than that which they have pursued previously. A subject led, flexible approach will be used at all times.
  • Using proactive and interactive teaching and learning methods we will help to advance independence by creating activities that emphasise what can be done rather than what can’t be done. We will draw on the service of experienced trainers and mentors to support our team in the real world of work.

How?

  • Consultants will work with Ukrainian individuals to develop a customised plan that creates a route towards their own desired goals in some 1:1 and some group sessions where they can take ownership and develop agency, help each other, build independence by sharing ideas, skills and networks and to engage in programmes of study that enable transition from Ukrainian professional qualifications onto British professional qualifications eg. Accountancy, Pharmacy, Medicine, Law etc.
  • We will create a safe space where support is given to improve CV’s, create and improve LinkedIn profiles, write emails using formal language that is proof read, improve understanding of what the language in a job specification actually means and assist in ensuring that applications are appropriate and address what has actually been asked for. This will ensure that time is not wasted applying for inappropriate jobs in a “scattergun approach” but we will help to ensure that applications are more focussed, more appropriate and also
  • We will develop links and work with employers to provide work placements and “on the job” mentors with employers in the area.
  • We will use technology to improve access and confidence in interview technique, speaking to groups (presentations) and working with others in a team to solve problems and improve team building skills. Our consultants will observe current practice and provide feedback using a series of questions in order to promote self-analysis using a non-judgemental approach rather than a “this is how you do it” approach.
  • We will provide advice regarding personal presentation for interviews and if necessary make connections with others to provide suitable attire.
